Vocational Grants
On this page you will find a number of ideas for where to attend vocational school and how to find a grant or scholarship to help you pay for vocational school.
Grants and Scholarships Help Pay for Associate’s Degree
If you are pursuing an associate’s degree, you should consider applying for the $1,000 Coca Cola Two Year College Scholarship. It is available to high school seniors (or current vocational school students) who are enrolling in a two-year trade or vocational school. You should either be employed part-time during high school or be very actively involved in community service activities.
Automotive scholarships – You can fill out an application online to be considered automatically by the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) Scholarship Committee. In addition, more scholarships are listed here.
Vocational School Grants and Vocational Training Grants
The Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) lists several vocational school grants.
Here is a good source of vocational training grants, especially in the technology field.
If you are looking for a vocational school by state, you can click the map on the Vocational Schools Database. Trade schools in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario in Canada are also listed. Also try here for a list of vocational schools across the United States by specialization and location. Many students have received a scholarship directly from the vocational school they are attending, so it is recommended to enquire at the financial offices of the vocational school where you wish to study.
Vocational Grants for those with Disabilities
The U.S. Department of Education oversees the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA), which in turn issues grants to help those with physical or mental disabilities learn a vocation to obtain employment. The RSA itself does not accept applications. However, several academic institutions in the United States receive RSA funding and award scholarships for qualified students. Further information is available from the financial offices of the college or university itself. Scholarship recipients work for full wages within a public rehabilitation program, such as a state’s vocational rehabilitation agency. If you think you are qualified, you may also wish to contact your state’s vocational rehabilitation agency for further details. Check here to find the offices in your state.
For every year of full-time scholarship support, the recipient works two years for the rehabilitation agency. Here you can download a catalog containing the list of scholarships, names of the directors, addresses, and phone numbers, of the training projects.
Federal and State Grants Can Help Pay for Vocational School
Grants for community college can be a big help in paying for vocational school. Since many vocational schools are a part of community colleges, it is important to understand the process of obtaining a Pell Grant and a grant from your local state to help pay for vocational school.
