Types of Programs, Diplomas, and Degrees in the Culinary Arts
The Arizona Culinary Institute and L’École Culinare in St. Louis, MO are a couple of examples of institutions offering programs shorter than an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. The price of this education can be high, but thankfully there are several scholarships and grants available to help pay for an education in the culinary arts. Private Sources of Funding to Help Pay for Culinary Arts School
In addition, for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the culinary arts or related field, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) is the largest provider of scholarships in the food and beverage industry. These are merit-based culinary scholarships and begin at $2,500.
Many state restaurant associations also award scholarships to qualified candidates. Look up the association for your state.
The American Culinary Federation also has scholarships for qualified students. They work with the American Academy of Chefs. Here is the application for high school students and for college students. The James Beard Foundation has offered culinary scholarships in the past.
The Careers through Culinary Arts Program (CCAP) has some annual scholarships.

Scholarships in Fields of Study Related to the Culinary Arts
While the International Foodservice Editorial Council does not award scholarships to those intending to work as caterers and chefs, it does have some scholarships for students who study work in areas relating to communications about the food and beverage industry.
